Guyana has vast deposits of gold, diamonds and semiprecious stones, including jasper, amethyst, agate, black pearl and green quartz. In the South American market, Guyana is the unrecognized leader in high quality gold and diamonds.
Gold, one of Guyana’s main exports, consistently rates at 95 – 98% purity.
With regard to our diamonds, many diamond dealers end up in Guyana, after visiting Venezuela and Roraima State in Brazil, because Guyanese diamonds are of a distinctly higher quality.
